First-year students understand what it means to postpone self-gratification. It is not always as enjoyable to study as it is to watch a movie or play a video game. Discipline is the practice of training oneself to maintain acceptable and desired behavioral patterns. You must constantly remind yourself that the decisions you make today will determine your future and the type of life you will have tomorrow. You must pay the cost of sowing good seeds today in order to reap the desired harvest tomorrow.
Perseverance:
According to Encarta, this word means consistent and continuing action or belief, usually over a long period of time and especially in the face of difficulties or setbacks. In other words, a first-class student will reject compromise and laxity when it comes time to study, pray, attend lectures, or do the things that he is expected to do.
Prayer:
First-class students understand that relying solely on one’s own might, strength, and ability is folly. You must value your closet as a place where you can communicate with God and draw strength, wisdom, and enablement from Him. If you do not have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, you must establish one with Him.
Balance:
This is also very important because it is often overlooked by students. The university is not just for reading and studying for a degree, though this is the primary goal. It is a platform for acquiring knowledge that will assist you in creating a future for yourself, discovering your life’s purpose, and overall self-development. You must engage in activities that will help you grow spiritually, intellectually, physically, morally, socially, and financially. It is also critical to get enough rest. It is not the number of ‘night classes.’
This is just a list of important characteristics that distinguish first-rate students. Depending on your personality, the list is endless.
It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been in school or how many times you’ve failed; you can still achieve great things. Your altitude is determined by your mindset and attitude. Maintain a positive attitude and a first-rate mindset, and the sky will only be your starting point. Remember that being a first-class person is far more important than having a first-class certificate.
