The following 7 documents are required for scholarship application and aptitude tests in order to screen and identify scholarship applicants.
Passport
The company in charge of screening scholarship applicants will usually specify the size, color, and age of the passport required for the scholarship application.
Scholastica, for example, requires a white – background passport that is no more than 3 months old and measures 450 X 450.
Admission Letter
If you want to win an undergraduate scholarship, you must show proof that you have been accepted into the institution and course of study that you are claiming.
The admission letter can come from either JAMB or your school. However, some scholarships specify the type of admission letter required.
O’level Result
Almost all Undergraduate Scholarship require O’level results for application. WASSCE, GCE, NECO, and NABTEB are among the O’level results.
Although all of these are O’level subjects, some scholarship programs require that the O’level result be WASSCE or any of the above mentioned subjects in one sitting.
Scholarships such as Mobil require 5 A1s, whereas Federal Government Bilateral Scholarships require 5 Distinctions in relevant courses such as English and Mathematics.
JAMB Result
Obviously, anyone who was admitted to the university had to pass the Jamb Admission and Matriculation Board with a score of 180 or higher. Many Nigerian scholarship programs require JAMB results for application. Some scholarships require a JAMB total score of 60 percent or higher.
However, we advise students to apply for any scholarship for which they are eligible, as long as they have passed JAMB and meet all other requirements.
Local Government of Origin Identification
Almost all undergraduate scholarships require applicants to provide a Certificate of Local Government of Origin. This is critical when it comes to location-based scholarships, such as the Area of Operation scholarship award for some oil companies.
Because such scholarships favor students from the operational area, students from non-oil producing areas look for ways to claim they are from the operational area, and in order to do so, the Local government of origin identification is required.
School ID Card
School ID is one credential that almost all undergraduate scholarships require from students, but unfortunately, most schools do not issue the school ID on time, denying many students the opportunity to apply for these scholarships.
We advise students to use any other document that will identify them as students of the school to which they claim to belong. For example, at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), where we have a branch at EXCEL‘s PLACE FUTO, students in level 100 use their confirmation of admission obtained from the Registrar as their school ID for scholarship application until the school issues the official school ID.
Students will not miss out on this opportunity, which is even more accessible to first and second year students.
Birth Certificate
It is true that any online application or registration will always include a “Date of Birth” field. In order to confirm that the date of birth you have entered is correct, the Undergraduate Scholarship schemes require applicants to submit their birth certificates. In cases where a birth certificate is not available, an age declaration can be used instead. Baptismal certificates can also be used in some cases.
It is important to note that many other scholarships may require all of the above and more, while others may only require some of the above documents.
