After leaving Aston Villa, Steven Gerrard is "in talks" with a new club

Steven Gerrard, a former England midfielder, has flown to Istanbul to meet with Trabzonspor.

Since Gerrard was let go by Aston Villa on October 20, he has been out of work.

After moving from Rangers to take his first managerial position in England’s top flight, the 42-year-old spent less than a year in charge of the Premier League team.

After Poland’s FA decided not to renew the contract of Czeslaw Michniewicz earlier this year, Gerrard was mentioned as a possible candidate for the position.

But Fernando Santos was ultimately appointed by Poland.

Karar, a Turkish publication, claims that Gerrard went to Istanbul earlier this week to have dinner with Ertugrul Dogan, a candidate for Trabzonspor president.

The team has won 11 of their 23 matches, putting them sixth in the Turkish Super Lig.

If Dogan wins the next election, he has reportedly promised to hire Gerrard as manager.
