COVID-19: ALL SECONDARY SCHOOLS TO REOPEN 4TH AUGUST AS WASSCE COMMENCE 17TH AUGUST–FG
ALL SECONDARY SCHOOLS TO REOPEN 4TH AUGUST: All Secondary school in Nigeria will be writing the 2024 WASSCE, this information was announced by federal government. The federal government announced this on Monday that secondary school students in the final year classes will resume on Tuesday, August 4.
This is done in order to enable the students prepare for the WASSCE which will commence on Monday, August 17th. The govt. has finally decided that secondary school students will resume on August 4 in order to participate in the 2024 WASSCCE.
According to a statement made by the Federal Ministry of Education on Monday, July 27th announced that schools in the country (secondary) will reopen on Tuesday. He stresses that the reopening is only for the final year classes to sit for their examination.
He however, said that the students will have only 2 weeks to prepare themselves for the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). He brought to the notice of the general public that WASSCE examination will kick off on Monday, August 17.
The information was deliberated upon and announced at the end of a simulated review meeting between the Federal Ministry of Education, Commissioners of Education of the 36 States, The Proprietors of Private Schools, The Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) and Chief Executives of examination bodies.
The announced was signed by Ben Goong , the director of press and public relations of the federal education ministry.
He said “stakeholders at the meeting decided that the leaving classes should resume immediately after the Sallah break, from the 4th of August, 2024 in order for them to prepare adequately for the WAEC which is scheduled to begin on August 17th.
