Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board List of Prohibited Items in Exam Hall

JAMB has released the list of strictly prohibited items in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination hall.

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has insisted that no candidate will be allowed into the exam hall with an electronic device during the upcoming 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

A list of Prohibited Items has been published by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) that’s not allowed into any examination center this year. The items are:

  1. Electronic devices such as:
    1. mobile phones
    2. calculators
    3. wristwatches
    4. recorders
  2. spy reading glasses
  3. cameras
  4. ear piece
  5. Bluetooth devices
  6. USB
  7. CD
  8. hard disk and other similar storage devices
  9. pen/Biro
  10. smart lenses
  11. books or any reading/writing material
  12. ink/pen readers
  13. key holders
  14. ATM cards
  15. erasers
  16. smart rings/jewelries

 

In the bulletin, it states: “to ensure that the board’s examinations meet best global practices, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board prohibits the use of the following items during exams.

“In their own interests, candidates are advised not to bring these items close to the examination venue. Candidates who violate this directive will not be permitted to take the examination.”

According to Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Jamb’s spokesperson, candidates who breached the directive and brought these devices to the hall last year were caught and turned over to law enforcement.
