British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has issued a statement regarding the contentious removal of former England striker Gary Lineker as host of the BBC’s Match Of The Day (MOTD) program.
Because of his recent remarks regarding the brand-new policy of the United Kingdom regarding illegal immigration, Lineker now faces a significant challenge.
Lineker drew comparisons to Nazi Germany when Home Secretary Suella Braverman posted a video of the UK’s new policy regarding small boats crossing the English channel.
Lineker’s remarks turned into the subject of discussion across the political world in the beyond couple of days.
However, Sunak has now issued a statement asserting that 45,000 people illegally crossed the channel in the previous two years.
According to Liverpool Echo, a portion of his statement read: As Head of the state, I need to do what I accept is correct, regarding that not every person will constantly concur.
“In the past two years, 45 thousand people have illegally crossed the channel. Many of these people have been exploited or trafficked by criminal gangs, putting their lives in danger.
“The policy we presented this week, I believe, aims to break this cycle of misery once and for all. In addition to being the right and fair thing to do, it is also the kindest thing to do.”
During his time as a professional footballer, Lineker earned more than 79 England caps.
The 62-year-old has also played for Premier League teams like Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, Everton, and Barcelona.
