NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT SAYS CHURCHES, MOSQUES CAN REOPEN

CHURCH is supposedly deciphered from the Greek expression “ekklesia” which purely means people gathered.The earliest societal meaning of ekklesia was merely a “public assembly” of people. Acts 19:39 refers to settling something in a lawful assembly.

The Federal Government has broadcasted relaxation of restriction on parishioners in places of worship imposed as part of the guidelines to curb the blowout of COVID-19 in the country.

The diplomatic task force (DTF) on COVID-19 led by Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation and chairman of the PTF, announced that President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the relaxation of the ban for four weeks on Monday.

Relaxation of restriction on places of Worship based on guidelines issued by the PTF and protocols agreed by state governments, PTF said.

The PTF succumbed its recommendations and the PRESIDENT has permitted the following for enactment over the next four weeks straddling 2nd – 29th June, 2024, subject to review.

Thoughtful advance into the Second Phase of the national response to COVID-19; application of science and data to guide the targeting of areas of on-going high transmission of COVID-19 in the country.

Deployment of all possessions at State and Local Government levels to create public awareness on COVID 19 and improve acquiescence with non-pharmaceutical interferences within communities;

sustenance of key non-pharmaceutical interventions that would apply nationwide and include: ban of gatherings of more than 20 people outside of a workplace and religious places.
