NIJ Admission Form 2022 Academic Session is out

Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Admission Forms for 2022 Session is now out.

NIJ Admission Form: Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Admission Forms for National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) & Special Programmes for 2022 Academic Session is now ongoing.

The management of the institution has given the deadline to be 30th September 2022. 

Applications are invited from suitably eligible Applicants for admission into the NIJ National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) and Special programmes for the 2022 academic session into the institution.

Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Available Courses 2022

  1. ND– Mass Communication [Full Time & Part-Time] candidates can apply.
  2. HND– Mass Communication [Full Time & Part-Time], apply now…
  3. PGD– Broadcast Journalism [Full Time & Part-Time], Print Journalism [Full Time & Part-Time], Public Relations/Advertising [Full Time & Part-Time] are also available in the institution.
  4. Proficiency Certificate – Writing Skills, Photojournalism, Communication & Basic Photography, Sports Report and Presentation still available in the institution.

NIJ Admission Requirements

  1. National Diploma (ND)
  • Five Credit passes in the WAEC or NECO or it’s equivalent in five subjects including Mathematics and English Language.
  • Students’ enrolment and admission is through (JAMB) 
  • At the end of the course, successful candidates are awarded National Diploma which can help them apply for direct entry or proceed to register for the Higher National Diploma (HND).
  1. Higher National Diploma (HND)
  • Candidates must have Five Credit pass as it is for admission into National Diploma
  • ND in Mass Communication with a least of Lower Credit from a recognised and NBTE-accredited institution be in inside or outside the country.
  • Candidates are to present Evidence/Proof of a one-year mandatory Industrial Attachment. 
  • Candidates should note that the Admission is done directly by the management of the Institution. 
  • At the end of the course, all the successful students are awarded a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication.
  1. Post Graduate Diploma (PGD)

All perspectives candidates should note that the programme is divided into three specialized areas of mass communication, which are as follow: 

  • Public Relations and Advertising.
  • Print Journalism, 
  • Broadcast Journalism, 

All these programmes are designed to equip and also expose the students with the fundamental principles and theoretical framework of Mass Communication practice.

Every student in all sequences apart from their professional courses, take these core courses: 

  • Mass Communication Research Methods; 
  • Communication for Development, Media Management 
  • Foundation of Mass Communication, 
  • Theory of Mass Communication, 
  • Mass Media Law and Ethics, 
  • Topical Issues in Mass Communication.
  1. All candidates must pass the following subject(s) in O’Level obtained at not more than 2 sittings

* Credit pass in Mathematics

* Credit pass in the English Language

and at least credit pass in 3 other subjects

  1. First Degree or Higher National Diploma from a recognized institution.
  2. Proficiency Certificate
  3. You must pass the following subject(s) in O’Level obtained at not more than 2 sitting

* Credit pass in Mathematics

* Credit pass in the English Language

and at least credit pass in 3 other subjects

Duration of Programmes

  1. National Diploma (ND)

The programme is of four semesters (Two Academic Sessions) duration for Full-Time students and Six Semester (Three Academic Sessions) for Part-Time students.

  1. Higher National Diploma (HND)

The programme is Four-Semester (Two Academic Sessions) for Full-Time students and Six Semesters (Three Academic Sessions) for Part-Time students.

  1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

The programme is of Two semester (One Academic Session) duration for Full Time and Three semester for Part-Time students.

Internship

At the end of each semester and session, National Diploma and Higher National Diploma students are sent on 4-6 weeks Internship with Media organisations for practical experience prior to their graduation. At the completion of their programmes, National Diploma students go on one year compulsory Industrial Attachment (Internship) while Post- Graduate students are sent on a 6-week Internship programme at the completion of their course work.

Deferment of Admission

All candidates already offered admission may apply for deferment of admission for that session through the head of the relevant department to the Registrar within six weeks of the date of admission. The application must be supported with genuine reasons as well as documentary evidence where necessary.
