U of T make conditional offers of admission throughout the year on the basis of available Grade 11 and 12 (or equivalent) marks. This offer of admission is possible provided your record shows that you are enrolled in all required Grade 12 (or equivalent) courses. i.e If a Grade 12 mark in a prerequisite subject is not available, U of T use the mark in the corresponding Grade 11 course.
Ensure to submit all required documents by the published document deadline for your program(s) of interest.
English language requirements
Tests/Qualifications That Provide Acceptable Evidence of English Facility
English Language facility is one of the requirement to gain admission in the University of Toronto, U of T. The following English Facility is acceptable in the U of T admission.
Note:
- U of T will not accept your Grade 12 English results, your results in any other English course/test, or letters of reference from your school or employer for this purpose.
- If you meet the admission and program-specific requirements, but not the University’s English Language Requirements, you might be a candidate for one of our English Language Transition Programs.
- If you are unsure as to whether you are required to submit evidence of English facility, contact Enrolment Services for more information.
We strongly advise you to complete your test and submit your scores to U of T well in advance of published deadlines. It may take several weeks from the time your test results are released until they reach Enrolment Services.

The minimum requirement is an overall score of 120. Subscore results must be submitted. Results from tests completed before July 15, 2024 will not be accepted. Total score of 86, with 32 in Writing and 22 in each of Reading and Listening
Discretionary Range: total score 80 or higher, with 32 in Writing Test results that fall into the discretionary range indicated above will be reviewed automatically. Applicants will be notified if their discretionary range score satisfies the English language requirement. We only accept scores submitted electronically by the IELTS test centre. Copies of paper Test Report Forms will not be accepted. An institutional code is not required. Contact your IELTS test centre directly to arrange for your scores to be sent electronically to our account via the IELTS Results Service. All test centres worldwide are able to transmit your scores to our system. You must provide the following information to your test centre when submitting:

Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology |
A three-year diploma (Advanced Diploma) or an Applied Degree in an academic program at an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology
The minimum requirement is the completion of a three-year diploma or current enrolment in the final semester of a three-year diploma or an Applied Degree in an academic program with overall grades of “B+” (or in progress). A current, updated transcript is required. All three or four years of study must be completed in Ontario. |

Paper-delivered Test: results will be reviewed on an individual basis. Test results that fall into the discretionary ranges indicated above will be reviewed automatically. Applicants will be notified if their discretionary range score satisfies the English language requirement. As we cannot guarantee that these scores will be accepted, it is recommended that applicants arrange to take another test if the official results can be submitted to us by the appropriate document deadline. In order to satisfy the requirement, applicants must achieve the scores listed above on a single test date. TOEFL MyBest (super-scored) results will not be used. University Studies |
One full year of full-time degree study at a recognized English-medium university located in a country where English is the dominant language
The minimum requirement is four full transferable degree courses completed with grades of ‘C’ (or in progress). If courses are in progress, you must submit an up-to-date transcript showing enrolment in all courses. |

Additional Details
U of T accept only official test scores sent directly to Enrolment Services by the testing agency. It is recommended that you request your result to be sent to appropriate departments as soon as it is available. Note that you will not be penalized for an unacceptable result if we receive an acceptable result by the deadline.
How To Transfer Credit Information in University of Toronto
If you have completed college or university studies, AP, IB, GCE, CAPE, or French Baccalaureate examinations, you may be eligible for transfer credit at the University of Toronto. Transfer credits are assessed after admission.
Ensure to check whether your intended program considers applicants with your educational level. For example certain programs, such as Rotman Commerce, do not consider applicants transferring from other post-secondary institutions.
U of T Application Dates and Deadlines.
The university of Toronto application process starts in the fall of the year before you intend to begin your studies. Be sure to start looking into scholarships right away as well, as some have early deadlines. Application from OUAC submitted after the program is closed, will be cancelled with no refund.
On a successful submission of application after one week, an email acknowledgement including your JOINid/UTORid, your University of Toronto applicant number, and full information about the next steps in the application process is sent.

OUAC 101 Applicants
For OUAC applicants, admission decisions for students from Ontario secondary school (OUAC 101) applicants is released between January and late May.
All applicants should note that February 1 is the deadline for receipt of transcripts and, if required, English facility test scores and applications should be done early and documents submitted in advance of this date as Late documents will be considered as space allows.

For All Other Applicants Applying to University of Toronto
Admission decisions are released between mid-December and late May. The earliest rounds of consideration will take place before the February document deadline. Applicants who submit documentation early are able to maximize their opportunities for admission consideration. Documents received after the February deadline will be considered as space allows.
Supplementary applications can only be submitted after a student has applied to the program area.
