WAEC CANCELLATION: IS IT TRUE?

WAEC CANCELLATION:ASK CANDIDATES TO IGNORE

WAEC CANCELLATION: The Management of The West African Examinations Council-WAEC has appealed to all Nigerians and mostly Candidates who are preparing to write the May/June 2024 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination-WASSCE to ignore reports in circulation that claim the council has cancelled the date for the examination.

Mr. Patrick Areghan in a Statement on Monday, said the Council said the notice alleging the cancelling of 2024 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination-WASSCE did not emanate from the body itself.

The council decried that the publication is “patently false and deceitful.” And as such Candidates should keep preparing themselves for the examination and do away with everything that may seem to distract their minds.

More so, he explained that the report is nothing but the handwork of mischief makers whom are out there to scam and defraud innocent and unsuspecting candidates and their guardians and parents,
However, the council made known to the entire public that the information circulating on social media is nothing but fake, they did that because of the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic.

They also specified that the body was charging the sum of N22,500 from candidates who will enrolled for the examination

However, the fee for the examination is N13,950 only and not N22,500. West African Examination Council-WAEC, as an examining body in the sub-region, has not announced the cancellation of the examination,” the council said.

West African Examination Council-WAEC said they did not announce the cancellation but only announced a postponement until normalcy is restored. WAEC couldn’t have made a mistake in the full meaning of its acronym.”

The West African Examination Council-WAEC said it will come up with a new International Timetable for the conduct of the examination in the West African sub-region once the situation returns to normal in the country.

He specified that this will take place after due consultations with relevant stakeholders, stating that candidates are, therefore, advised to disregard the false publication and focus on their books for the examination.

POSTPONEMENT

The West African Examinations Council-WAEC in March rescheduled its West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination-WASSCE for this year, including in Nigeria, until further notice due to the raging COVID-19 pandemic that is ravaging the whole world.
WAEC however, said a new date for the examination will be announced and communicated to stakeholders and school once normalcy returns.
