USA Opportunity Funds Program: USA Opportunity Funds Program (OFP) 2022 for young Nigerians to Study in the USA. This scholarship is definitely for students who are done with their O’ level (WAEC/NECO), are currently in their SS3, and are done with their First Degree. There are therefore many determined and talented, low-income students in Nigeria who only require financial resources and access to information to better their educational future as to come.

For the 11th year, luckily the United States Embassy, Nigeria seeks to identify academically qualified/skilled and highly motivated, low-income students in Nigeria to join the Education USA Opportunity Funds Program (OFP).

OPPORTUNITY FUND PROGRAM MISSION

OFP’s mission is to assist talented and determined as well as motivated, low-income students who are very good candidates for financial assistance from U.S. colleges and universities but lack the capable financial resources to cover the up-front cost of obtaining admission into the school.

OFP works so closely with the students through regularly programmed meetings and seminars in other to assist them throughout the application process in other to secure his/her admission and scholarships to attend colleges and universities in the United States of America.

OFP funds the cost of the application process, including the registration fees for required and standardized examinations, and therefore provides free membership to the U.S. Education USA Advising Center for its participants.

OFP, therefore, expects a sincere commitment and diligence from the students to give their utmost energy and time to the program so that they may rightfully achieve their dreams of studying in the United States.

 

Applicants are therefore welcome from all the states in Nigeria. However, students must be able to reach out to our offices in Abuja or Lagos on a monthly basis during the program scheduled for full participation. Participants will work with our Education USA Advisors from June 2022 – August 2022 in other to try to secure places and financial assistance to begin their studies in the U.S. in August 2022.

 

Education USA Opportunity Funds Program Requirements.

  1. His/her Complete Application Form
  2. His/her Academic Results:

Undergraduate Applicants – Attach at least a copy of your WAEC “O” Level results (from the WAEC website). Include Cambridge A’ Level or GSCE results if applicable.

Graduate Applicants– Attach a copy of your Final year results and degree results (if available) First Class only (STEM majors preferred).

Letters of recommendation:

Undergraduate Applicants: Request a teacher or your school principal or any reputable person in your community to complete a letter of recommendation form for you, confirming your character, talent, and applied skills.

N/B: Never include a basic testimonial that does not talk about you as an individual.

Graduate Applicants: Provide the correct details of a lecturer and professor likewise a Head of Department (HOD). We can contact you to find out more concise information about you as an individual.

Transcript:

Undergraduate Applicants: Send a well-scanned copy of your transcript from JS1 to SS3 including your mock and first-term results, if possible and applicable.

Graduate Applicants– Send a well-scanned copy of your transcripts that show a GPA of 4.5 or above on a 5.0 scale of the result.

Essays:

Write at least two essays, one from Group A and the other from Group B, each of about 300 – 350 words. The essay topics will definitely be on the application form you receive. (Essay topics will be definitely found on the form)

Education USA Opportunity Funds Program Selection Criteria.

The selection of the finalists for OFP is highly competitive, given limited funding. We seek applicants with the following:

 

  1. A well strong academic record/ transcript
  2. Robust participation in the extracurricular activities
  3. Involvement in the leadership roles
  4. A well Excellent community service participation

Financial Need focus.

NOTE:  Undergraduate Applicants– If WAEC results are not well available; the student must be currently in SS3. If WAEC results are available, they must be from May/June WAEC. Students who have already started a University education are NOT eligible to apply.
