MasterCard Establishment Grant Program for African Understudies

The Mastercard Establishment has cooperated with the College of Cape Town (UCT) to administer the execution of monetary, scholastic, social and post-graduation backing to granted up-and-comers under the grant named The Mastercard Establishment Researchers Program at the College of Cape Town. The vision of the Program is to change promising youngsters from recipients to promoters, setting them up with the essential qualities, information, abilities, and administration to fuel monetary and social advancement across Africa. The grants will cover for the accompanying:

  • Reimbursement of expenses incurred in processing visa applications.
  • An economy-class airfare ticket to Cape Town, South Africa, for award recipients who are either: i) citizens or residents of a Sub-Saharan nation other than South Africa; or ii) residing in South Africa but not in Cape Town.

  • An economy class air ticket endless supply of review, for awardees who are I) residents of as well as occupants of a Sub-Saharan country other than South Africa or ii) living in South Africa yet beyond Cape Town.

Mentoring, leadership development, academic and life skills support are provided to Program participants. Writing groups, tutoring, language instruction, and guidance counseling will all be part of the academic support.

Qualifications for the MasterCard Foundation Scholarship Program

To be considered for the MasterCard Establishment Researchers Program at the College of Cape Town, candidates should be:

  • Able academically, must value education, and must be motivated to complete their education.
  • Disadvantaged economically and confronted with significant financial obstacles to education access.
  • Committed to giving back to their local communities after completing their studies, returning to their home countries to lead efforts to improve social and economic conditions.
  • Residents and citizens of a nation in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Wishing to study either undergrad or graduate (Masters by research and coursework or only research Masters).

First, applicants must apply to UCT for academic study and placement before applying to The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program. A MasterCard Foundation scholarship application can only be submitted by applicants who have applied for academic study and placement at UCT.
