VSBfonds awards grants annually to graduating students who wish to study abroad after their study programme. It is not possible to use this grant for an internship or research project. Individual Travel Grant

Are you planning a study programme, internship or research project abroad and you’re not eligible for an Erasmus or Holland Scholarship grant? In that case, you might apply for a grant from the Radboud University Profiling Fund – the Individual Travel Grant (IRS). This grant is intended as compensation for the extra expenses you have when you go abroad for a study period. Such expenses might include tickets, visum, accommodation rental and vaccinations. If no such extra expenses are involved, for example in the case of a virtual study exchange, you won’t be eligible for the grant. Also, your study programme or faculty will have to approve the trip, because it is of essential importance that your exchange is relevant to your study.

The compensation amounts to 200 euros a month for a stay in Europe, and 300 euros a month outside Europe. The amount of the grant you ultimately receive will be calculated based on the number of days of your study-related stay abroad. The compensation is for a maximum of 4 months.

Completing Individual Travel Grant

In order to complete your grant application, we would like to receive from you within one month of the end of your stay abroad, through [email protected], the following documents:

A statement form, filled in and signed. You will receive the statement form by email a few weeks before the end of your stay.
Your official transcript or records, as soon as you have received them from your host organisation.
An online student report with photos of your experience. You will receive the link to this report by email a few weeks before the end of your stay.

After an internship stay:

A statement form, filled in and signed. You will receive the statement form by email a few weeks before the end of your stay.
An online student report with photos of your experience. You will receive the link to this report by email a few weeks before the end of your stay.

After a research stay:

A statement form (research), filled in and signed by your study advisor. You will receive the statement form by email a few weeks before the end of your stay.

Important: these documents must be sent to [email protected] no later than one month after the end of your exchange period. If you decide to travel afterwards, you are still responsible for getting the documents submitted on time. How to apply for Individual Travel Grant

Start your application for a stay abroad through your Osiris account. As soon as your faculty’s International Office has provisionally approved your application, you will automatically receive an email with further instructions for your grant application. The grant applications are open every year somewhere around April for the subsequent academic year. So you will receive the email with further instructions for your grant application around April. If April has already passed or you’re going abroad in the current academic year, you will receive the email with instructions for your grant application roughly one working day after your stay abroad has been approved in Osiris.
There is a link to a web form in the email with additional explanation about the grant application. Fill in the web form fully.
Roughly one working day after you have submitted the web form, we will send you an email containing the Grant Agreement and the Learning Agreement (for internship and study) or the Letter of Approval (for research). You should then send the following documents to [email protected] no later than two weeks before your exchange is due to start.

For internship, study and research stays abroad: the Grant Agreement, signed by you. Read that document carefully! It lists the conditions that have to be met for the grant application.

For internship and study periods: the Learning Agreement, signed by you, your host organisation and your faculty at Radboud University.

For research projects: a letter of approval form from your study advisor at Radboud University or your faculty’s International Office. The declaration form should indicate the relevance of the project for your study.

Deadline

One unconditional requirement for a grant application is that it must be submitted in full online and the necessary documents sent to Student Life and International Mobility at least 2 weeks before departure. If this is not the case, you will not be eligible for the grant. If there is a special reason for the late application, get in touch with us by email to [email protected]. We will then discuss your situation and let you know whether the deadline can be extended.

When the grant has been provisionally awarded, an advance of 75% of the total amount will be transferred to your bank account within roughly 4 weeks. You will receive the remainder after your stay abroad has ended, as soon as you have submitted the last documents and met all the conditions. If you don’t meet all the conditions, you will have to repay the advance.

Germany scholarship – Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology

The Deutschlandstipendium at RUB has existed since 2011. You can find general information about the Deutschlandstipendium, including a greeting from the minister of education and research Bettina Stark-Watzinger.

Within the framework of this scholarship programme, the German government supports private donors to fund scholarships for young talents with outstanding academic or school records who show exceptional commitment to their community or social issues. Social, family and personal circumstances are also taken into account in the selection process.

These AgEcon Scholarships are provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) under its special initiative “Development-Related Postgraduate Courses” (EPOS).

Language skills

For study courses in German (scholarship includes a preparatory 6-month German language course in Germany): Successful passing of the language examination DSH 2 or TestDaF 4 before the start of the study course. Therefore, a minimum German language level of B1 at the time of application is a requirement, that needs to be proofed by providing a current certificate.
Note: It is not possible to pass the required German language courses (DSH or TestDaF) without any previous basic knowledge in the German language (at least B1 Level), even with the preceding six-month intensive course in Germany. Passing the language test is a formal prerequisite for matriculation at the respective German university.

Interested candidates should visit German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) on www2.daad.de to apply

You send your complete application(s) directly to the according postgraduate course.
A selection committee suggests potential candidates for a DAAD scholarship.
The suggested candidates will be contacted by DAAD to upload their complete application to the DAAD Portal.
The selection process will be finalized, and the suggested candidates will be informed accordingly.

IMPORTANT:

KAAD International Scholarship in Germany

The Katholischer Akademischer Ausländer-Dienst (KAAD)(in English, Catholic Academic Exchange Service) is inviting applications from outstanding applicants who are willing to enrol in a masters or PhD degree study programme in Germany. This scholarship is a fully funded opportunity and highly competitive. KAAD is the scholarship institution of the German Catholic Church for post-graduate students and scientists from (developing) countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Near and Middle East, as well as Eastern and Southeastern Europe.KAAD expect the following from the prospective candidates:

Above-average performance in studies and research
The orientation of your studies or research towards permanent reintegration in your home region (otherwise the scholarship is turned into a loan),
Religious and social commitment (activities) and willingness to inter-religious dialogue.

KAAD supports his scholars in form of scholarships and educational programs and offers spiritual and personal assistance in view of future multiplying functions students will have in their home countries.

Conditions for KAAD Postgraduate Scholarship

Applicants must come from a developing or emerging country in Africa, Asia, the Middle East or Latin America and are currently living there
Applicants must have a university degree and professional experience from your home country
want to acquire a master’s degree or a PhD at a German university or do a post-doctoral research project (2-6 months for established university lecturers) at a German university
